Product Information
This fits straight onto a Discovery 2 style transfer box flange you will not require a Defender Transfer Box Flange to fit this one.
These HEAVY DUTY 1310 Double Cardan wide angle propshafts are custom made for us to our specification. This version has the superior Italian Double Cardan unit and has no need for a new output flange, the double cardan end is compatible with the Land Rover Discovery 2 TD5 transfer box output flange, as you can see in the pictures, it will bolt straight on a Discovery 2 td5.
We can also supply a 1310 ULTRA EXTREME Double Cardan propshaft for your Discovery 2 that has the slider on the Double Cardan end, or an even stronger propshaft, 2020 MEGA Double Cardan propshaft that also have the slider on the Double Cardan end, which means the slider is out of the mud and water.
The Double Cardan end goes up to the gearbox/transfer box, you will need a Defender TD5 Front transfer box output flange conversion to fit the propshafts.
Do I need a Wide Angle or a Double Cardan Propshaft :-
A Wide Angle Propshaft is mainly used on and off road when you have fitted longer travel suspension with more axle drop out and your original propshaft is binding on the joints, they can sometimes help with vibration problems, but if they can’t cure the vibration problems a Double Cardan may have to be used. The wide angle propshafts are easier and cheaper to repair than a Double Cardan.
A Double Cardan propshaft is mainly used on road to help prevent vibration problems when driving on road. They are also wide angle to cope with long travel suspension. That is the reason they are the most expensive Propshaft we have available. Propshafts can sometimes fail due to the angle they are running at, if this does happen to a Double Cardan, they are very difficult and expensive to repair.
Wide Angle and Double Cardan Propshafts on Land Rover vehicles will require regular maintenance and repair due to the angles they are used at, especially with a suspension lift. For example, every inch of lift will roughly add 3 degrees on the average front Propshaft angle.
To check your propshaft angles, you can download an angle app to your phone. Zero the device on your handbrake drum, transfer box or drive flange and measure your propshaft angle. Please be aware the steeper the angle the more wear and problems your propshaft will have.
